Jakarta, IORA - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s director general for information and communications Rosarita Niken Widiastuti hoped that the process and outcomes of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit can be accessed by the public.
"I asked the administrator of IORA Summit official website to report regularly every day," said Niken who is also the chairwoman of IORA Summit 2017 Media and Public Relations Technical Committee at IORA Media Center in Jakarta on Sunday (3/5).
Niken also said that public can watch IORA Summit 2017 live on internet, especially during the opening and closing session on March 7, 2017. In addition, the press conference will be broadcasted via live streaming at www.iorasummit2017.id.
Furthermore, Niken emphasized that the leadership of Indonesia at IORA Summit represents the implementation of Nawacita—nine President’s priority agenda—which aims to establish Indonesia as the world's maritime axis.
IORA is an international organization consisting of 21 countries that border Indian Ocean rim. It was established in 1997 and aims to strengthen cooperation among member states.
"Many economic potential among member states has yet to be explored optimally. Therefore, one of the objectives of IORA Summit 2017 is to explore economic potential that can bring welfare among member states," she concluded. (Tri Antoro/Jul/Translator: Ugi)
