Bishop: IORA Summit, the Proof of Indonesian Chairmanship Success

Jakarta, IORA - Foreign Affairs Minister of Australia, Julie Bishop remarked that the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit is the proof of the Indonesian chairmanship success in this organization.

“The fact that we attend this significant meeting today proved that under the Indonesian chairmanship, IORA has reached a new level of maturity as an organization,” Bishop said in the RI Vice President office, Jakarta, Monday.

In the Ministerial Conference of IORA in Padang, West Sumatera, last 2015, Indonesia as the chair of IORA proposed the 20 year Commemoration Summit of IORA which is held on March 5-7, 2017 in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC)

“We would like to congratulate Indonesia for the ambitious agenda of IORA. Australia, as the chairman of IORA from 2013 to 2015 will also gladly support Indonesia to strengthen IORA,” Bisoho continued.

Accroding to Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, Indonesia has successfully brought up the issues of terrorism and radicalism prevention and eradication which is very important for the region and global world in the summit.

Foreign Affairs Minister Bishop comes to Jakarta to attend IORA Ministerial Conference 2017 in JCC, Monday, together with other related ministers from 21 member states and seven IORA dialogue partners.

In her free time during IORA meeting, Bishop did an honorary visit to the RI Vice President, bilateral meeting with RI Foreign Affairs Minister, Retno Marsudi, Coordinating Minister of Maritime, Luhut Panjaitan, and Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Security, Wiranto.  (Azizah Fitriyanti/LT)
