Jakarta, IORA - Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla held a bilateral meeting with Chairman of Oman State Council Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit 2017 held in Jakarta, Tuesday (3/7).
"We discussed the relationship between Indonesia and Oman, as well as the Middle East situation. I think Oman is a very peaceful country," Jusuf Kalla said following the meeting.
Both countries also disccussed cooperations in economy and investment as well as education.
According to Kalla, a number of Indonesian companies are interested to tie cooperation with Oman which will be be followed up after the bilateral meeting.
RI Ministry of Commerce recorded that the total trade between Indonesia and Oman in 2016 only reached 263.28 million US dollars, which is a decline compared to the previous year that reached 355.93 million US dollars.
Indonesia's imports from Oman in 2016 amounted to 61.38 million US dollars, while exports stood at 201.89 million US dollars.
Thus, Indonesia posted a trade balance surplus amounted to 140.51 million US dollars in 2016. (Vicki Febrianto)
